Wow, it is expensive to travel with pets these days! I am hoping on Air North in Whitehorse to connect with Canadian North in Edmonton to go home to Yellowknife and just looked into the cargo rates for pets.
My airfare alone will be $322.36 (I have a $100 voucher), one way from Whitehorse to Yellowknife. On top of that the cargo rate, per airline is at least $100. So is the extra $250 worth it to bring my favorite pooch on the Dempster?
I'll have to think about this one for sure, but I think the answer is going to be no for now. My dog Tim is 10 and a half years old, so I thought this would be a great trip for him and amazing to cross the Arctic Circle with him, but for $250 to bring him back home afterwards? (If you remember, Alex and I are driving to Whitehorse, but he's heading back to Yellowknife on his own to go back to work).
I'll have to think about this and ask my travel buddies.
